PIANO LESSONS FOR CHILDREN

I have never met an adult who regretted learning an instrument when they were younger. In my studio, I think-long term benefits with short-term satisfaction. Your children are probably at the perfect age to begin learning an instrument they can take with them into adulthood.

Below are a few examples of how I structure our lessons.

Pianimals (Play-by-Number)

Pianimals in a great Play-by-Number series to get young learners started playing right away. I use this series in my elementary general music classes with great success. The explanations and songs are easy to follow and the accompaniment tracks can be downloaded for free.

Faber Piano Adventures

The Faber Piano Adventure book series is a student-centered approach to learning note-reading, music theory, and piano technique.

An optional app provides easy access to interactive play-along accompaniments for the Piano Adventures method books—bringing an orchestra, jazz ensemble and rock band right to your mobile device!

EARLY IMPROVISATION

Beginner Notes

Combine easy note-reading with learning how to play simple chords and accompaniments. These arrangements feature large notes which are easy to see and follow, with each note’s name written and the chords to follow on top.

This is the first step towards learning to improvise any style down the road.

These songs can be programmed alongside the Pianimals or Faber book series and we choose songs based on student interests.
