EQUIPMENT & SETUP FOR ONLINE LESSONS

YOUR INSTRUMENT

You'll need a piano to use during the lessons and to practice on throughout the week. An electronic keyboard would work as well as long as it has external speakers.

Ideally, the keyboard will have touch sensitivity and weighted (or semi-weighted) keys, especially as the student progresses. However, this is not required to get started.

LAPTOP COMPUTER OR TABLET WITH A BUILT-IN WEBCAM

The brand or operating system (OS) does not matter as long as it is up to date. Headphones are also recommended, but not required.

While smartphones can work if needed, I do not recommend them as the screen is very small and difficult for the students to see as I demonstrate concepts.

Place the computer at eye level to the side with a view of the student's face and piano keys.

ZOOM

You will need to install a program called Zoom.

​

I recommend parents be present during the lesson for younger students to assist with camera placement and navigating controls.
